Run a quiz on your next Zoom call
You host from your browser and share the link (or share your screen to allow players to scan the QR code). Everyone else answers from their own phone or computer, so nobody installs anything or needs to leave the call. Play it as a 2-minute icebreaker, a 10-minute game or a pub quiz in rounds. Scores update live.

How to run it on Zoom
- 1Open huddlequiz.com/host, pick Quick (3 questions) or Standard (10), and the room opens with a join code and a QR code.
- 2In Zoom, choose Share Screen and pick the HuddleQuiz window. Your team sees the QR code to scan on the call (or just share the link or code in the chat).
- 3Players go to huddlequiz.com/join on their phone, type the code and a name, and they're in. Scanning the QR works too.
- 4Press start. Each question runs for 20 seconds, the answer reveals when everyone has answered, and the board updates after every round.
Why it works well on Zoom
- Nothing to install. Zoom guests on a free plan, on a phone, or dialling in from a browser can all join.
- Phones are the buzzers. Players answer on their own device, so the shared screen stays clean and there is no fumbling with Zoom's chat or reactions.
- The host can play too. Take a seat from the host screen and compete alongside the team.
- It fits the meeting. Standard takes about ten minutes and Quick is three questions for a warm-up. Run one at the end of a weekly call or as a Friday wind-down.
Zoom quiz apps compared
- Zoom polls and quizzes: built in, once polling is switched on in your account settings. Every question is written in the web portal beforehand, and what comes out is a results report rather than a live scoreboard.
- QuizFlight: a Zoom Marketplace app that runs the quiz inside the meeting with a PIN and live scores. The host writes the questions, and on a managed Zoom account the app has to be approved before anyone can add it.
- Slido: polls, Q&A and quizzes as a Zoom app, with a leaderboard and timed questions. Good if your company already has it; the host needs a Slido account and the free plan is limited.
- Kahoot: also has a Zoom app. The host needs a Kahoot account, and the free plan has a player limit.
- HuddleQuiz: a website, so nothing goes through the Zoom Marketplace, nothing needs approving and nobody makes an account. Share the screen, players join from their phones, and the board updates after every reveal. The trade-off is that it is trivia only: the questions come from the packs and you cannot write your own yet.

A 15-minute Zoom quiz night format
- Two minutes: share the screen, everyone joins.
- Ten minutes: a Standard game of ten questions, drawn at random from every themed pack.
- Three minutes: the final board, a winner, and someone demanding a rematch.
Zoom quiz FAQ
Do players need Zoom on their phone?
No. They stay on the call on whatever device they're using and answer in a browser tab on their phone or laptop.
Does it work in breakout rooms?
Yes. Each breakout room's host can open their own room at huddlequiz.com/host. The quiz is separate from Zoom, so any group with the room code can play.
Can I run a pub quiz on Zoom?
Yes. Treat each Standard game as a round of ten and play three or four rounds with a break between them. Teams can share a phone, the host can play too, and the scoreboard on the shared screen settles the arguments.
Is there a free quiz app for Zoom that needs no install?
This one, and it is not a Zoom app at all. Zoom's own quizzes, QuizFlight, Slido and Kahoot all live inside Zoom or its Marketplace. HuddleQuiz runs in a browser window that you share, so it works on any Zoom plan, including a free account and a locked-down corporate one.
How many people can join?
Up to 40 players per room, the host included if they play. Larger teams can split into rooms and compare winning scores.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no accounts and no signup. If you enjoy it, buying the maker a coffee helps keep the servers running.
