Run a quiz on your next Google Meet call
Google Meet already runs in a browser tab, and so does this quiz. Present the host tab, everyone else answers on their own phone, and ten trivia questions later there is a winner on the board. Run it as a 2-minute icebreaker, a 10-minute game or a pub quiz in rounds. Nothing to install, and nothing for a Workspace admin to approve.

How to run it on Google Meet
- 1Open huddlequiz.com/host in a new Chrome tab, pick Quick (3 questions) or Standard (10), and the room opens with a join code and a QR code.
- 2In Meet, click Present now and choose 'A tab' rather than a window. Presenting a tab keeps the picture sharp and lets Meet share the tab's audio too.
- 3Pick the HuddleQuiz tab. Everyone on the call can now see the QR code, or you can paste the join link straight into the Meet chat.
- 4Players open the link on their phone, type a name, and you press start. Each question runs for 20 seconds and the board updates after every reveal.
Why it works on Google Meet
- No Marketplace add-on. It is an ordinary website, so there is nothing to install and nothing for a Google Workspace admin to approve first.
- Present a tab, not your desktop. Nobody sees your inbox or your notifications, and the shared picture stays crisp because Meet is sending a single tab.
- Short enough for any call. Quick is three questions in about two minutes and Standard is ten in about ten, so it fits comfortably inside the free plan's group-call limit.
- Guests can play. Joining the quiz needs no Google account at all, so anyone you have let into the Meet can take part.
Google Meet trivia apps compared
- MeetParty: trivia and party games as a Meet add-on from the Workspace Marketplace. It runs inside the call, but on a managed Workspace account an admin has to allow the add-on before anyone can install it.
- Kahoot: not inside Meet, so it works the same way as HuddleQuiz: present a tab and players join on their phones. The host needs a Kahoot account, and the free plan has a player limit.
- Slido: polls, Q&A and quizzes with a Google Meet integration and a leaderboard. The host needs a Slido account, and the free plan is limited.
- Google Forms: free, already approved everywhere and fine for a homework quiz, but it is a form. There is no timer, no live scoreboard and no moment where the whole call sees the answer together.
- HuddleQuiz: a website, so there is no Marketplace add-on, nothing for a Workspace admin to allow and no accounts for anyone. Present the tab, players join on their phones, and the board updates after every reveal. The trade-off is that it is trivia only, with no custom questions yet.

Three ways groups use it on Meet
- The end-of-week team call. One Standard game before everyone logs off on Friday.
- Form time and tutor groups. Meet is the default in a lot of schools. The questions are general knowledge pitched at adults and teenagers, so they land best with secondary classes.
- A catch-up with family abroad. Share the tab, let the grandparents play from their phones, and let the board do the arguing.
Google Meet quiz and trivia FAQ
Do I need a Google Meet add-on?
No. There is nothing to install from the Google Workspace Marketplace. The game is a website you present from a second Chrome tab.
Should I present a tab or my whole screen?
A tab. In Meet choose Present now, then 'A tab', and pick the HuddleQuiz one. It looks sharper than a window share and keeps the rest of your screen private.
Do players need a Google account?
Not for the quiz. They open the join link in any browser and type a name. Whether they need an account to enter the Meet itself is a separate Meet setting.
Does it work on the free Google Meet plan?
Yes. It runs alongside the call rather than inside it, so it needs nothing from Meet beyond a tab to present.
Can I run a pub quiz on Google Meet?
Yes. Each Standard game is a round of ten questions: play three or four rounds with a break, let teams share a phone, and keep the board on the presented tab so nobody argues about the score.
Which trivia apps work in Google Meet?
MeetParty runs inside Meet as a Marketplace add-on, Kahoot and Slido run alongside it, and Google Forms can mark a quiz afterwards. HuddleQuiz runs alongside the call too, as a presented tab, and is the one that needs no add-on, no admin and no accounts.
How many people can join?
Up to 40 players per room, the host included if they play. Larger teams can split into rooms and compare winning scores.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no accounts and no signup. If you enjoy it, buying the maker a coffee helps keep the servers running.
