A family quiz night that runs itself
Nobody has to write the rounds, keep score or referee. One person starts a huddle, the rest of the family joins on their phones (or shares one between two), and ten general knowledge questions later there's a winner on the board. It works around the kitchen table or on a video call with the grandparents.

How to run a family quiz
- 1Open huddlequiz.com/host on a laptop, tablet or phone. Pick Quick (3 questions) for younger players or Standard (10) for the full game.
- 2Put the host screen where everyone can see it: on the TV, propped up on the table, or shared on the video call.
- 3Everyone scans the QR code or goes to huddlequiz.com/join and types the code and their name. Little ones can team up with a grown-up.
- 4Start the game. Each question runs for 20 seconds and the board updates after every reveal, so there's no arguing over the score.
Why it works for families
- Fair scoring. 100 points for a right answer and up to 100 more for speed, worked out by the game rather than by whoever is holding the pen.
- Mixed ages. General knowledge from every themed pack, so the quiz-mad teenager and the film-buff grandparent each get their moment.
- Grandparents can join. Anyone who can open a link on a phone can play. On a video call, share your screen so they can see the board.
- Short enough for bedtime. Quick is three questions in about two minutes, Standard is ten in about ten.
When families play it
- Sunday dinner: a Standard game after pudding, host screen on the TV.
- Christmas and birthdays: the whole family in one room, phones out, cousins versus aunties.
- Video call with the grandparents: share the screen and play a Quick game so everyone gets a turn to talk.
- Rainy afternoon: a rematch, then another.
Family quiz FAQ
Is it suitable for children?
The questions are general knowledge pitched at adults and teenagers, so younger children do best sharing a phone with a grown-up. Quick mode keeps the game short.
Do we need one phone each?
One per player is easiest, but two people can share a phone and play as a team. The host can play from the host screen too.
Does it work on a video call?
Yes. Share the host screen on the call and everyone joins from their own phone, wherever they are.
How many people can join?
Up to 40 players per room, the host included if they play. Larger teams can split into rooms and compare winning scores.
Is it really free?
Yes, with no accounts and no signup. If you enjoy it, buying the maker a coffee helps keep the servers running.
